David Brandt, The Godfather of Soil Health
David Brandt, often called the “father of regenerative agriculture,” was a lifelong farmer from Ohio whose dedication to soil health reshaped modern farming. After serving as a Marine in Vietnam, David returned to his family’s farm, where he began experimenting with no-till practices in the early 1970s—long before they were widely accepted. Over the decades, he became a pioneering voice in cover cropping and regenerative systems, demonstrating how healthier soils lead to healthier crops, communities, and ecosystems. His generosity in sharing knowledge with other farmers and his tireless advocacy for sustainable practices made him a natural fit as a founding instructor for Soil Health Academy, where his legacy continues to inspire new generations of growers.

The Soil Health Academy has been instrumental in taking my soil/farming knowledge (and hence the direction of my business) to the next level.
The Academy was a real eye opener. You all did such a great job presenting, and the fact that you are living what you’re teaching made all the difference. You’ve changed our way of thinking, and we’ve already started putting into practice what we learned.
The Soil Health Academy team taught us how to save our farm by lowering input costs and by getting higher premiums through direct marketing.
