Katon to Serve as Organizational Strategist for Soil Health Academy
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (July 11, 2025) — The Soil Health Academy (SHA) announced that Ben Katon will serve as organizational strategist, offering planning and operational guidance as the non-profit enters a new phase of strategic growth and development.
With extensive experience in strategic management and non-profit governance, Katon brings valuable insight to SHA as it refines its programming, structure, and long-term vision. His appointment comes as part of a broader initiative to realign SHA’s efforts with the foundational mission established by its founders in 2018: advancing regenerative agriculture through practical, principle-based education.

“Our core mission—providing education that empowers regenerative transformation for farmers, ranchers and educators—remains unchanged and stronger than ever,” SHA President Kim Barmann said. “We’re delighted and honored to have Ben Katon’s expertise guiding us as we build upon that mission in bold, new ways.”
As part of a recent strategic planning process, SHA’s Board of Directors has taken deliberate steps to clarify and strengthen the organization’s identity, including establishing clear legal and fiduciary policies to protect and advance its non-profit mission.
“These actions are essential to upholding SHA’s integrity, transparency, and long-term commitment to serving the public good,” said SHA President Kim Barmann. “While this transition resulted in changes to our previous instructional lineup, we are deeply grateful for the contributions of past educators and excited about the fresh perspectives and opportunities ahead.”
Barmann said that SHA remains fully committed to providing world-class, hands-on regenerative education, adding that the organization is already working to bring in “dynamic new instructors with deep regenerative knowledge and real-world experience.”
“This is an exciting moment of growth for SHA,” Barmann said. “We’re expanding our vision, reaching more sectors and audiences, as well as creating educational experiences that are better aligned with the evolving needs of our attendees.”
According to Barmann, SHA’s educational programming will continue to innovate and uphold the highest standards while embracing diverse voices and fresh perspectives.
“We’re deeply thankful for the support of our partners and past participants, and we’re excited to showcase the passionate new educators who will help shape the future of SHA,” she said. “With Ben Katon’s guidance, we are building an even stronger foundation for the years ahead.”
